Business Support Manager, Aurora/ Newmarket                                                  Jan 2011 to October 2013

  • Responsible for the training, development, and ongoing supervision of my team of 15 associates; including 3 key positions (Inventory Control Specialist, Administration Specialist and Shipper/Receiver).
  • Lead the sales floor by providing direction to the team, building relationships with customers, and resolving customer concerns.
  • Accountable for driving sales through the front end cash team. My team was recognized with highest “product of the day” add-on in the district for December 2012.
  • Oversee all areas related to inventory control; including shipping and receiving of product, store to store transfers, vendor returns, shrink, and loss prevention.
  • Oversee all front end administrative functions; including cash management, bank reconciliation, and daily/weekly sales audit reporting.

  • Received 6 months of dedicated store management training. Working directly with another manager in the store I was able to develop skills that allow me to effectively manage my team, my time, and store processes.

Store Opening Lead                                                                                            May 2009 to July 2011

  • Led teams of 10-15 temporary associates to implement merchandising and operational standards during store renovations and new store openings across Canada.
  • Coordinated with construction trades, head office, and store staff to ensure the project execution was 100% to Staples standards with minimal interruption to store operations.
  • Led 9 of my own projects as the sole Staples management representative.
  • Facilitated the training of new store associates during store openings.
